Hi Future Family!
Calvin & Hobbes were given as Christmas gifts to an elderly couple who were not in the market for a puppy, much less two puppies. At a few months old they were placed to live outdoors in a kennel and contracted parvo. Both puppies survived, however Calvin has some scars from a resulting IV fluid injections. That was the only the time the boys had ever visited a vet prior to be rescued October 4th.
Hobbes is the slightly bigger of the brothers at 22 lbs with a little less white on his chest. Hobbes loves to held. He is also quickly learning to walk-on and love the leash.
As both boys have only known a life outdoors, we expect house training will need some work. They have both quickly picked up not pottying in their kennels in just the few days we have had them so far so I expect they will be quick learners. Again, with their outdoor life with limited contact, they are missing many basic skills like “sit” & leash walking, but are making great strides.
At this time, we are seeking SEPARATE homes for the brothers to avoid litter mate syndrome. While they are fine in each other’s company, they have responded best to people when not with each other, which is common. We want them to develop into happy, well-adjusted, and confident independent dogs and not become unhealthily attached to one another.
Hobbes’s family needs to make a commitment to attend a minimum of 6 weeks training with him using a certified trainer so they can improve their bond and fill in some of the gaps in his knowledge base.
