Xena

Xena has been in rescue her entire life. She was originally fostered in Florida after being pulled from a high kill shelter as she was labeled a “Boston mix” and as a tiny baby, maybe I could say Boston. But Xena kept growing. She was briefly adopted in Alabama, but returned when she was decided to be too big and rambunctious for their two year old toddler.

Xena has been here at the Ranch for almost 3 years. She is now a fully grown girl at about 55 lbs. Xena deserves to find a forever family. She has been through basic obedience training. She loves all other dogs of all sizes. She has two best friends here at the Ranch, but gets along with everyone. They like to spend time racing in the yard, playing keep away, and watching for deer from the playhouse. She loves people. She loves toys and playing. She likes to play keep away with the other dogs.

She’s almost got fetch down, but a good game of keep away from the people is hard to resist! She’s house trained & crate trained. She’s snuggly and affectionate and only wants to please her people. She did great in her obedience class and quickly grasped new skills.

She is everything you want a dog to be, but she’s not a Boston, when means she’s overlooked in a breed specific rescue. She continues to work on not jumping up on people and has made big progress. She is still pretty rambunctious so very small children may be knocked down as she races around.

She’s run in 5Ks with friends of our like a champ, so an active family would be great. She also loves Lure Chasing and would excel with a family who wanted to pursue that.
