Meet Cora
Cora is another long term foster at the Rescue Ranch. She was listed as a heart worm positive, pregnant, mangy, Boston mix at a kill shelter in Atlanta. Of course, when we arrived, we realized she wasn’t a Boston at all. Cora is a ridiculously short legged “pocket pit”. She also wasn’t mangy, those were burns on her side. Somehow 3 stripes had been burned into her fur over her ribs. And she wasn’t pregnant. She was actually heart worm positive, but has undergone heart worm treatment and is now heart worm free! The fur on her side has also grown back. And she’s been spayed so being pregnant is never something she will worry about again.
She is still a pocket pit bull though, so she’s overlooked in a Boston Terrier Rescue. Cora also needs to be an only dog as she was never socialized. We have been working with a trainer with Cora and other dogs, but she would be happiest in an only dog home which also makes her harder to place.
We thought we had Cora placed with another rescue, a breed specific rescue who focuses on pit bulls, but on the day of her transport that rescue backed out.
So we are counting on you to help us get Cora home.
Cora is goofy. She’s smiley & happy & very affectionate with all people. She walks very well on a leash. She likes to chase toys in the yard, but has no idea she’s supposed to bring them back. She has the most adorable 4 inch legs. She is looking for an only dog home. If her home has children, they should be sturdy, as she’s prone to want to be as close to you as possible, which sometimes makes her a tripping hazard.
She’s also been EXCELLING at Nose Work being the first & only in her Level 1 class to be recommended to go to Level 2 after just one round of classes. She has now started Level 2 and is doing great. We would love for her forever family to be willing to continue to work with her in Nose Work as it’s a great bonding experience, a lot of fun, and something Cora really loves. It’s also perfect for her because of the way it is set up, as nose Work works one dog at a time without dog to dog interaction.
As a special incentive, a Cora supporter has offered to donate $100 to any nonprofit chosen by Cora’s forever family! The Rescue Ranch will also cover an additional 6 week Nose Work course for Cora to attend with her new family!

Oh my how I wish I could adopt this little girl!! We have a 4 year old male pit. I just lost my 15 year old baby 😢
You might want to contact Healing 4 Heros as they help place Veterans with potential service animals, and have placed lots of “bully breeds”
We saw Cora while looking for a Boston and was wondering her weight ? Thanks, Jeremy
