Bianca is currently seeking an “only dog” home.

Bianca is an adorable “Frenchton” (Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mix) who arrived the beginning of December 2015. Bianca needed rescue as she had begun “acting out” in her current home and not getting along with the other dog in her home.

She wasn’t even a year old yet and had been bounced to two homes. First she was purchased by a family who decided she has too much energy. From there she went to that another family who had another Frenchton. Everyone hoped that would be a better fit, but the resident dog didn’t agree. She bullied and attacked Bianca resulting in several vet visits. It got so bad that Bianca was terrified and hiding and then they moved her to a crate in the basement for her safety, letting her out 3 times a day. The family realized that wasn’t right for her or their family, and eventually contacted rescue.

Because of her rough start, Bianca arrived a nervous, highly anxious dog with next to zero dog language skills as the only dogs she’d been socialized with didn’t like her and afraid to make eye contact with people. We immediately called the positive trainer we work with and began rehabbing Bianca with daily sessions. With the help of our vet and trainer Bianca started Prozac. She was so anxious that she couldn’t process the training because she jumped at every leaf or noise or change in the light. We never take medication lightly and only when working with skilled veterinarians and trainers do we feel like it’s appropriate.

The dog that arrived to us is not the dog that currently lives with us. Bianca now walks on a leash and loves it. She plays with a group of 5 or 6 other dogs racing through the yard. She’s one of the fastest dogs we’ve ever fostered. She loves toys. She’s awesome at her Focus-Attention & Hand-Feeding exercises which we continue to use to help her with confidence & relationship building. She’s smart and eager to learn and very food motivated which makes working with her a joy.

She is a dog that will need several weeks in a new environment before getting comfortable in a new home. She needs a family that will continue to work on confidence building with positive training. At this time we are seeking a family for Bianca where she will be the only dog. While Bianca is great with her group of friends here, she struggles with transitions and having to get used to another resident dog, new people, new house, new everything is just too much for her.

Bianca is currently enrolled in a nose work class, it’s hugely valuable for dogs that need a confidence boost as it develops problem solving skills. She continues to take prozac daily which will be ongoing for now.

Bianca would love to have someone sponsor part of her training (approximately $130/6 weeks).
