Hi Future Family!
My name is Miles. I was found as a stray with a yucky eye injury and a good Samaritan took me to animal control hoping to find my family. Unfortunately, no family came and my eye ruptured overnight at animal control. They called the Rescue Ranch and thanks to many volunteers, I made the journey to Madison and got right into the vet where I had emergency surgery to remove my ruptured eye.
I just got my stitches out and I’m feeling much better. I’m still on the skinny side, so I am working hard at eating 3 meals a day and gaining some weight and muscle again. Since I only have one eye, quick movements can startle me and make me crouch down low. I would probably prefer a home without small quick moving children, but older kids would be fine.
I love to be held and snuggled. I need to sleep in the bed with my people or I cry and cry. I can be crated for short periods, but after about an hour I have a panic attack and have to get out, so my forever family needs to have someone home a lot or have a puppy nanny come visit a few times a day for me.
I have a very stick gait and back. The vet said on my x-rays there is basically no space between my vertebrae. I take a joint supplement every day with my food to help protect my joints. My foster mom has back problems too and said this is probably why when I need to go, I need to go right now, and probably has a lot to do with why I can’t be crated or left alone for a long period of time.
I’m a pretty laid back guy. I don’t much play with toys or other dogs, but I like other dogs and cats just fine. I do love to roll in my sweaters to get just that right itchy spot. I will gladly snuggle at your side, in your lap, or at your feet all day long. I’m mostly a quiet companion that just wants to be near my people. I do not require a fence so long as you’re up for leash walking me. I prefer my people come outside with me for potty breaks anyway.
